Pavement ants are small, brown to black ants commonly found outdoors, particularly along cracks in sidewalks, driveways, and near building foundations. They get their name from their tendency to build nests under pavement, rocks, and other hard surfaces. Pavement ants are known for their ability to form large colonies with thousands of ants. Indoors, they are often seen in kitchens, pantries, or around food sources. They primarily feed on seeds, sweets, and other small food particles. While not typically harmful, pavement ants can become a nuisance when they invade homes. Effective control involves sealing entry points and eliminating food sources.
